Panda Merge

1. Introduction

Sensei Studios ("we," "us," or "our") operates Panda Merge ("the Game"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the Game uses, how, and your rights regarding your data.

The Game is designed with a privacy-first approach: there are no accounts, we do not run servers that collect or store your data, and your game progress is stored locally on your device. Some third-party services the Game uses, listed in Section 3, receive data to do their job.

2. Information the Game Uses

2.1 Locally Stored Game Data

Your game progress is stored on your device in a local save file (savegame.json) and a few settings files. This data never leaves your device unless you transfer it yourself. It includes:

  • Game Progress: Your pandas, their levels and positions, merges, prestige level and tile borders
  • Currencies: Zencoins, sugarcane and Golden Bamboo
  • Game State: Tutorial completion, harvest level, farm expansion, Temple upgrades, expeditions, Bamboo Pass progress, daily reward streak and Sensei Helper time
  • Purchases: Which one-time offers you have bought, rewards still waiting to be placed, and when you last watched the shop's free ads (so the limits work)
  • Timestamps: The time of your last save (used for offline earnings)
  • Holder Perks: Whether a Sensei Panda NFT or a Seeker Genesis Token was found, and the wallet address it was found in
  • Settings: Music and sound volume, and whether you allow personalized ads
  • Great Reset: If you take the Great Reset, a copy of your previous save is kept on your device

This data is saved automatically every 5 seconds and when the app is paused or closed.

2.2 Blockchain Wallet Data

When you connect a wallet to make in-game purchases or check for holder perks:

  • Wallet Public Key: Your Solana wallet's public address is used to build transactions and look up tokens. It is sent to Solana RPC providers and, for purchases, recorded on the Solana blockchain.
  • Remembered Connection: The Game stores your wallet address and the authorization your wallet app gives it on your device, so you don't have to approve the connection every time. Choosing another wallet in the Game replaces it, and uninstalling the Game or clearing its data removes it.
  • Private Keys and Seed Phrases: We never access, collect, store or transmit your private keys or seed phrases. All signing happens inside your wallet app (Seed Vault, Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, Jupiter, etc.).

2.3 Transaction Data

When you make an in-game purchase:

  • Transaction details (sender, receiver, amount, token type) are submitted to the Solana blockchain network.
  • Transactions on Solana are permanent and publicly visible on the blockchain ledger.
  • We check whether the transaction went through using Solana RPC providers.
  • If the Game closes during a payment, the transaction signature is kept on your device, so the Game can check it and give you your purchase the next time it starts.
  • We do not keep our own database of your transactions.

2.4 Holder Perk Checks

When you tap "Check" for holder perks in Settings:

  • You sign an off-chain message in your wallet app to prove the wallet is yours. The message is: "PandaMerge: verify wallet {your_public_key}". Signing a message never moves any funds.
  • The Game asks a Solana RPC provider whether your wallet holds an NFT from the Sensei Panda collection (using the Digital Asset Standard API) and whether it holds a Seeker Genesis Token.
  • The result and the wallet address are stored on your device only.

2.5 Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, and the Game does not send us:

  • Names, email addresses or contact information
  • Phone numbers or device identifiers (but see Unity Ads in Section 3.4)
  • Location data or GPS coordinates
  • Browsing history or app usage analytics
  • Crash reports or diagnostic telemetry
  • Social media profiles or friend lists
  • Biometric data
  • Age, gender or demographic information

3. Third-Party Services

The Game uses the following third-party services, each with its own privacy practices:

3.1 Solana Blockchain Network

  • Purpose: Processing in-game purchases paid in USDC or SKR.
  • Data Shared: Your wallet public key, transaction amounts and token transfer details.
  • Retention: All blockchain data is permanent and publicly accessible.
  • Privacy Policy: Governed by the decentralized nature of the Solana network. No single entity controls blockchain data.

3.2 Solana RPC Providers

  • Purpose: Sending transactions to the blockchain, checking whether they went through, looking up tokens for holder perks, and estimating fees.
  • Data Shared: Your wallet public key and transaction data.
  • Note: The Game uses Solana's public RPC or an RPC provider such as Helius. RPC providers may log requests under their own policies.

3.3 Jupiter API

  • Purpose: Getting the current SKR price, so prices can be shown in SKR.
  • Data Shared: Token mint addresses only. No wallet or personal data is sent to Jupiter.

3.4 Unity Ads

  • Purpose: Showing optional rewarded video ads, only when you choose to watch one.
  • Data Shared: Unity Ads may collect advertising identifiers, device information and ad interaction data, as described in Unity's privacy policy.
  • Personalized Ads: Ads are only personalized if you allow it. Players in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked before their first ad, and anyone can change the choice at any time in Settings under "Personalized ads". Without your permission, Unity shows ads that are not personalized.
  • Your Choices: Watching ads is always optional. During an ad you can also use Unity's privacy button to see your data, opt out or ask Unity to delete it.

3.5 Wallet Apps

  • Purpose: Connecting a wallet and signing transactions and messages through Mobile Wallet Adapter (MWA).
  • Data Shared: The transaction or message to sign is shared with the wallet app you choose.
  • Note: Each wallet app (Seed Vault, Phantom, Solflare, Backpack, Jupiter, etc.) has its own privacy policy.

4. How We Use Information

The information described above is used only to:

  • Save and restore your game progress on your device
  • Process in-game purchases and give you what you bought
  • Check for the Sensei Panda NFT and Seeker Genesis Token holder perks
  • Show prices in SKR
  • Calculate offline earnings from your last save time
  • Show optional rewarded ads

We do not profile you, use your information for marketing, or sell it to anyone. Ads are only personalized by Unity Ads if you allow it (Section 3.4).

5. Data Storage and Security

5.1 Local Storage

Game data is stored in the Game's private folder on your device and protected by your device's operating system. We do not operate servers that store your game data.

5.2 No Cloud Sync

The Game does not offer cloud saves. Your progress exists only on the device where you play. Uninstalling the Game or clearing its data permanently deletes your local save.

5.3 Blockchain Permanence

Any transactions you submit to the Solana blockchain are permanent and cannot be deleted or changed. This is how blockchains work and is not controlled by us.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade or share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes. Information is only shared with the third-party services in Section 3, and only as needed for the Game to work.

7. Children's Privacy

The Game is meant for adults. It is not intended for anyone under the age of 18 (or the age of majority where you live). We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the Game, for example to make blockchain transactions, please contact us.

8. Your Rights and Choices

8.1 Local Data

You have full control over your locally stored game data. You can:

  • Delete it by uninstalling the Game or clearing its data in your device settings.
  • Access it in the Game's data folder on your device.

8.2 Wallet Connection

  • You can connect a different wallet with "Use another wallet" or "Try another wallet" in the Game. Uninstalling the Game or clearing its data removes the remembered wallet.
  • A wallet is only needed for purchases and holder perks. Playing the Game never needs a wallet.

8.3 Advertisements

  • Ads only play when you choose to watch one, and watching is always optional.
  • You can turn personalized ads on or off at any time in Settings.

8.4 Blockchain Data

  • Transaction data recorded on the Solana blockchain cannot be deleted or changed by us or anyone else.

8.5 Players in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

  • Personalized ads are based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings.
  • Purchases are processed to give you what you bought.
  • We do not hold your data on our own servers, so there is nothing for us to look up or delete. For data collected by Unity Ads, use Unity's privacy options during an ad or contact Unity.
  • You have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

9. International Users

The Game may be used worldwide. Blockchain transactions are processed on the decentralized Solana network, which operates globally, and RPC providers and other third-party services may process data in various countries.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date of the latest revision is shown at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Game after changes means you accept the updated policy.
